Imagine waking up to the sounds of hooves racing across the serengeti. or elephants grazing alongside you as you have your lunch. Migration Stalkers wants to provide this experience to the world. In their luxury camps you can sleep under the stars and wake up to a golden sunrise with the most beautiful creatures of our planet.

Migration Stalkers will have headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania which is a famous tourist destination for safaris. Their aim is to take portable luxury tents and hospitality items along with their clients to follow the animals wherever they may go. The team behind Migration stalkers is experienced in following animal migrations and providing incredible viewing experiences for their clients which include everyone from families looking for an adventure  to photographers looking for their next great shot.

The brief

The challenge with this branding concept was to standout from the crowd. It would have been easy to slip into a logo design that featured only an animal as do most companies. Initially, the client offered suggestions such as using unexpected animals such as Hyena or vultures which were photograph gold. They also suggested colours like red, oranges and yellow to suggest the idea of waking up with the sunrise.

However, I felt that we were forgetting that afterall, Migration stalkers was a part of the hospitality industry. The suggested animals did not fit in with this view nor were they going to provide the safaris themselves. They were providing luxury while partnering with companies who would take their clients on safari. I believed that if we could capture that, we would have a logo that stood out from the rest.

The logo

The client provided a drawing of a tent which I used as my starting point for this variation. I thought about how we could simplify the image into a mark. I tried to do the same with the image of the zebra. I also thought it would be interesting to show the proximity of the animal to the tents by using perspective. Eventually, simplifying the marks showed that there was some common ground that could be exploited there. Infact they fit into each other. And that was how the logo came together.
